The function of dry ice production machine

2021-12-18

A dry ice machine is a device specifically used to produce dry ice. Dry ice is solid carbon dioxide, which is widely used in refrigeration, transportation, food preservation, and some industrial and scientific experiments. The dry ice machine uses high-pressure equipment to compress liquid carbon dioxide gas to a supercritical state, and then quickly converts this high-pressure carbon dioxide into a solid state through a cooling and cooling system. The entire process requires precise control of temperature and pressure to ensure that the final product can form stable and high-quality dry ice or pellets. Although this process seems simple, it has very strict requirements on the design and operation of the machine, because any slight error may affect the quality and effect of the dry ice. Therefore, it is crucial to choose a dry ice machine with good performance, which is directly related to product quality and application effect.

The working principle of the dry ice production machine mainly includes several steps

1. Gas compression: CO2 gas is compressed to a high pressure state.

Gas compression is the first step of the dry ice production machine. The main steps are as follows: Intake: Inhale CO2 gas from the storage tank or gas source. Compressor: The gas enters the compressor, where it is mechanically compressed. The compressor increases the pressure of the gas through a piston or screw, etc., while raising the temperature of the gas. Cooling: The compressed high-temperature and high-pressure gas needs to be cooled by a cooling system (such as water cooling or air cooling) to prepare for subsequent liquefaction. Storage: The cooled high-pressure CO2 gas is stored in a high-pressure tank for the subsequent liquefaction step.

2. Liquefaction: The compressed gas is cooled in the cooler, turning it into liquid carbon dioxide.

Gas compression: Carbon dioxide gas is compressed to high pressure by the compressor. This process increases the pressure and temperature of the gas. Cooling: The compressed gas passes through the cooler and exchanges heat with the cooling medium (such as water or air), and the temperature gradually decreases. When the temperature drops to a temperature close to the liquefaction point of carbon dioxide, the gas begins to liquefy. Gas-liquid separation: During the liquefaction process, part of the carbon dioxide gas will be converted into liquid, and the liquid and unliquefied gas will be separated by a separation device. Storage: The liquefied carbon dioxide will be stored in a dedicated tank for subsequent use.

3. Expansion and cooling: Liquid carbon dioxide is rapidly decompressed through the expansion valve, causing the temperature to drop and part of the liquid to turn into gas.

Pressure reduction: Liquid carbon dioxide rapidly depressurizes through an expansion valve (or throttle valve). As the liquid passes through the valve, the pressure drops dramatically.

Vaporization: After decompression, part of the liquid carbon dioxide will quickly vaporize and absorb the surrounding heat. This process causes a significant drop in temperature.

Cooling effect: As the gasification process absorbs heat, the temperature of the remaining liquid carbon dioxide further decreases, and finally condenses into a solid state under appropriate conditions to form dry ice.

4. Solidification: The remaining liquid carbon dioxide condenses into a solid state at low temperatures to form dry ice blocks or pellets.

The solidification stage is a key link in dry ice production. At this stage, the liquid carbon dioxide is rapidly cooled and depressurized, causing its temperature to be below 78.5°C, forming solid carbon dioxide. This process is usually carried out in a specific mold or compressor to ensure that the shape and density of the dry ice meet the requirements. The solidified dry ice can be cut into blocks or pellets for easy transportation and use.

Types of Dry Ice Generators

  • Small dry ice production machine: suitable for small enterprises or laboratories, usually small in size, limited in production capacity, suitable for low-demand occasions.
  • Medium-sized dry ice production machine: suitable for medium-sized enterprises, with large production capacity, able to meet certain industrial needs, suitable for food, medicine and other industries.
  • Large dry ice production machine: suitable for large-scale production, usually used in industrial production lines, can efficiently and continuously produce a large amount of dry ice, widely used in transportation and storage and other fields. .
  • Dry ice pellet machine: specially used to produce dry ice pellets, suitable for industries with specific needs for dry ice pellets, such as cold chain transportation.
  • Dry ice block production machine: used to produce dry ice blocks, usually used in refrigeration and cold chain distribution and other fields.

Dry ice production machine has a wide range of applications

  1. Food preservation: In food transportation and storage, dry ice can maintain low temperatures and extend the shelf life, especially for perishable foods such as seafood and meat. Low temperature preservation, cold chain transportation, avoid moisture, no chemical additions, easy to use.
  2. Cold chain logistics: In the logistics and distribution process, dry ice is widely used in cold chain transportation to ensure the safety and effectiveness of medicines, vaccines and other temperature-controlled products. Temperature-controlled transportation, long-term preservation, easy operation, no moisture influence, reduced loss, and improved safety.
  3. Industrial use: In the manufacturing and processing industries, dry ice is used to cool and remove residues in molds to help improve production efficiency. Equipment cleaning, coolants, spraying and coating, plastic and rubber processing, gas recovery, biotechnology,
  4. Special effects: In movies, stage performances and activities, dry ice is used to create smoke effects and enhance visual effects. Stage effects, movie special effects, parties and events, theme parks, lighting coordination
