High quality 1.5L scale lab spray dryer equipment
Lab scale spray dryer is suitable for the production of in universities, research institutes and food and pharmaceutical chemical enterprises.
Aloe vera is widely used in the food, cosmetic, and pharmaceutical industries due to its moisturizing, anti-inflammatory, and bioactive properties. However, transforming fresh aloe vera gel into a stable powder while preserving its active ingredients has always been a technical challenge. Recently, a customer successfully completed an aloe vera spray drying test using our spray drying system, which directly led to the purchase of a large-scale spray dryer for commercial production.
Fresh aloe vera gel contains a very high moisture content and a significant amount of polysaccharides, making it sticky, heat-sensitive, and prone to wall adhesion during drying. Traditional drying methods often result in degradation of active components, discoloration, or poor powder flowability. The customer was particularly concerned about maintaining product purity, solubility, and color while achieving a stable powder suitable for downstream processing.
To address these concerns, our engineering team conducted a spray drying trial using the customer’s aloe vera sample. Before drying, the formulation was optimized by adjusting solid content and selecting appropriate inlet and outlet air temperatures. A suitable atomization system was chosen to ensure uniform droplet size and minimize product loss.
During the test, the spray dryer operated stably with no significant wall sticking or nozzle blockage. The drying process was completed within seconds, effectively reducing moisture content while avoiding thermal damage. The final aloe vera powder showed excellent flowability, uniform particle size, and good color retention, meeting the customer’s technical expectations.
After evaluating the powder quality, the customer confirmed that the dried aloe vera powder maintained its functional properties and was easy to re-dissolve. Compared with their previous drying attempts, the spray drying process significantly improved production efficiency and product consistency.
Impressed by the test results and the reliability of the equipment, the customer immediately decided to move forward with a larger industrial spray dryer. The upgraded system was designed to support continuous production, higher throughput, and long-term stable operation, fully aligned with the customer’s future expansion plans.
This successful aloe vera spray drying case once again demonstrates how a well-designed spray drying system can bridge the gap between laboratory trials and industrial-scale manufacturing. With proper parameter control and equipment selection, even challenging materials like aloe vera can be dried efficiently and safely.
For companies working with plant extracts, functional foods, or cosmetic ingredients, spray drying remains a proven and scalable solution—especially when supported by professional testing and engineering expertise
